VINTON COUNTY, Ohio — On Sunday, February 4, the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the Wellston Police Department concerning the theft of multiple bags of ice from Family Dollar in Wilkesville. A citizen, reports said, had alerted Wellston Police that the suspects were currently at a gas station in Wellston.
A truck at the location reportedly drew the attention of police, revealing multiple bags of stolen ice in the bed. Two suspects, identified as Justin Hopkins, 33, of The Plains, and Vicki Bauer, 44, of Athens, were detained and later arrested for the theft of 27 bags of ice from Family Dollar.
Both individuals were charged with theft and transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
The bags of ice were seized and returned to Family Dollar in Wilkesville.
