Wisconsin personal injury law firm, Gruber Law Offices analyzed the latest statistics from the United States Bureau of Justice to reveal which crimes had the highest number of reported incidents in each state throughout 2022.
There were 77,230 reported incidents in 2022 alone.
Destruction/damage/vandalism of property followed closely behind with 66,438 reported incidents.
All other larceny accounted for 65,549 reported crimes in the state.
Chillicothe’s Crime Landscape
While simple assault tops the charts statewide, browsing results suggest Chillicothe might tell a different story. According to a study by NeighborhoodScout, property crime is more prevalent in Chillicothe. The study indicates that Chillicothe has a higher violent crime rate than most communities in the US, but property crime is even more common. In Chillicothe, your chance of becoming a victim of property crime is one in 23, while the chance of violent crime is one in 562.
This concern is further highlighted by a recent surge in theft offenses. In the last 30 days, over 50 theft offenses have been reported to the Chillicothe Police Department. This suggests that theft and vandalism might be a bigger concern for residents in Chillicothe compared to other parts of Ohio.
