The Pike County Commissioners met in executive session Thursday morning to discuss how to move forward with appointing an interim Sheriff after the voluntary suspension of Sheriff Charles S. Reader.
The commissioners said this morning that Chief Deputy Bob Barbee will be appointed the duties of acting Sheriff, however, he will retain his title as Chief Deputy.
“The Pike County Board of Commissioners will defer to the Pike County Democratic Central Committee to appoint an interim Sheriff,” the commission said.
The Democratic Party is expected to meet in the coming days to make a decision. Sources say 3-to-5 names are on the short list
