COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced today that the two-week statewide average of cases per 100,000 residents is under 50. These cases had a onset in a two-week period from May 22 to June 4, 2021.

“Ohioans have shown their resilience and grit,” said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. “I announced this goal on March 4th, I said that reaching 50 cases per 100,000 would mean we were entering a new phase of this pandemic. Vaccinations are working. If you’re not vaccinated against COVID-19, continue to wear a mask in public and Ohioans that are able to get vaccinated should.”

Over 5 million Ohioans have started the vaccination process. More than 4 million people are already fully vaccinated.

Even though this is a positive indicator, the virus is still out there, and is still a serious threat to the unvaccinated. Unvaccinated individuals are still encouraged to wear masks and social distance.

In Ohio, businesses and organizations can still require masks regardless of a persons vaccination status. Many hospitals throughout the state continue to mandate masks within their facilities. Adena Regional Medical Center is one such facility.
