PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — Waverly City Schools announced they would be releasing students early Tuesday because of the continuing threat of flooding in the Scioto Valley.
In a statement posted online, Waverly City Schools announced that students would be released at 1 p.m.
The Western Local School District in Latham closed at noon.
The Ohio Department of Transportation reported that Route 220 west from River Road to Whitfield Way was closed due to high water.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the Scioto River in Pike County is expected to rise above flood stage before cresting at nearly 23 feet on Friday.
Law enforcement officials remind motorists not to drive through flooded roads.
