MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio — A Meigs County firefighter has died this week, after sustaining injuries in a rollover crash last year.
According to the U.S. First Responders Association, Kevin Dailey of Middleport passed away Tuesday. He was a long-serving member of the community and was the former fire chief in Richland Township near Lancaster. Dailey was also an instructor at Hocking College.
In September of last year, firefighters were returning from a call when their truck was involved in a crash. Dailey, officials said, was ejected and pinned under the truck when it rolled over.
Richland Township Fire Department, where Dailey served 30 years, issued this statement regarding his passing. Our hearts are saddened by the passing of Retired Richland Township Fire Chief Kevin Dailey. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and all who loved him. Chief Dailey served our community and its residents for many years. His legacy will go on. Rest easy Chief, your shift is over, we’ve got it from here.”
The Ohio Youth Fire & EMS Training Academy said, “Chief Kevin Dailey was a huge supporter and advocate for OYFETA for many years. His influence in the fire service will last for generations to come as he taught many of the instructors involved with camp while an instructor at Hocking College.”
