ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A Ross County man has pled guilty to charges related to a bar brawl that ended with a woman in serious condition after being run over by a car.
In October of 2021, law enforcement in Ross County responded to a large bar fight at Backroad Pub in Massieville.
According to 9-1-1 dispatch, upwards of 20 people, law enforcement says, were involved in the violent incident. Deputies reported several people suffered injuries in the fight.
Deputies, along with troopers from the Highway Patrol responded in force.
“The owner asked the guy to leave as he seemed agitated and a little too drunk,” the witness who asked to remain anonymous said. “The guy busted a beer bottle across the owner’s face. A fight resulted as the guy kept attacking the owner. It ended up outside. The owner’s wife was trying to see what was going on after the guy got to his vehicle, and started ramming the fence. Then, he ran into some vehicles and drove over the owner’s wife, throwing her into a concrete wall. She was seriously injured. At least two others were struck by the vehicle, too.”
EMS from multiple townships were called to the scene to render aid.
Jeffrey Hawkins pled guilty in a Ross County courtroom to 1 count of aggravated vehicular assault, 3 counts of felonious assault, and 1 count of assault.
Sentencing in this case is scheduled for March 13 at 10 a.m.
Hawkins faces 16 to 20 years in prison.
