CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ross County Emergency Management Agency and Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) are preparing to conduct a comprehensive emergency response exercise on Wednesday, April 26, at four different locations in the Chillicothe area.
The goal of the simulation is to assess the region’s preparedness, strategies, policies, and procedures in dealing with a potential emergency situation.
The hypothetical scenario involves a tanker truck at an intersection leaking an unidentified substance that produces a white mist, causing eye irritation to those nearby. The drill will also simulate injuries, with participants requiring decontamination, triage, and medical treatment.
The exercise will take place at the following Chillicothe locations:
- Ross County Service Center – 475 Western Ave
- Chillicothe VA Medical Center – 17273 OH-104
- Adena Regional Medical Center – 272 Hospital Rd
- American Red Cross South Central Ohio Chapter – 181 N. Bridge St.
Residents in the area are advised not to be concerned by the increased presence of emergency personnel and vehicles during the drill.
