OAK BROOK, Illinois — On October 18, 2024, TreeHouse Foods, Inc. announced a voluntary recall of certain frozen waffle products distributed across the United States and Canada due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The bacteria can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may experience mild symptoms like fever, headache, and digestive issues, but Listeria poses a severe risk to pregnant women, potentially causing miscarriages or stillbirths.
The affected products were sold under various brand names, and consumers can identify them by checking the UPC, Lot Code, and Best By Date on the packaging. No confirmed illnesses have been linked to the recalled items so far. The issue was discovered through routine testing at the manufacturing facility.
TreeHouse Foods advises consumers to either dispose of the recalled waffles or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Customers with questions can contact the company at 800-596-2903, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST.
The recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
