CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Friday afternoon, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Natural Resources Director Mary Mertz will visit Great Seal State Park in Chillicothe to dedicate a new grove of trees to the victims and survivors of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of 15 trees will be planted at the park on Friday, April 30, which is also Arbor Day. The trees will be planted by survivors, families of Ohioans killed during the pandemic, healthcare workers, first responders, and other essential workers including representatives from the Ohio National Guard, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, and Ohio Emergency Management Agency.
DeWine toured the park by helicopter last month as he was scoping out sites for the memorial.
