ASHVILLE, Ohio — A second mediation session has been scheduled for July 24 in an Ohio Court of Claims case over public records tied to the proposed EdgeConneX data center and power plant project, according to a Facebook post from TVAO, a group that has been tracking the dispute.
The case seeks records from the Village of Ashville related to the data center project, one of the largest development proposals put forward in the community. A court notice shared by TVAO identifies the case as Cory Wasmus vs. Village of Ashville, case No. 2026-00480PQ, in the Ohio Court of Claims.
A first mediation session was held July 17 and lasted about an hour and a half, TVAO said. Because mediation in Ohio public records cases is confidential, neither the substance of the discussions nor any settlement talks can be disclosed publicly, a restriction intended to let both sides negotiate candidly.
Under the Ohio Court of Claims’ public records complaint process, disputes are first referred to mediation with a trained attorney mediator employed by the court, the Ohio Supreme Court or an outside contractor, according to the court. If mediation does not resolve a case, it moves to a special master, an experienced attorney with the court who reviews the filings and issues a report and recommendation; a judicial officer then reviews that report before issuing a final order, which can be appealed to a court of appeals.
The second mediation session in the Ashville case is set for 10 a.m. July 24, TVAO said.
TVAO said it would continue posting updates as the case progresses and as new filings or developments occur, framing the dispute as a question of whether residents will get timely access to public records behind the data center project.
