MOWRYSTOWN, Ohio — The Highland County Sheriff’s Office says its Special Response Team will hold a training exercise on North High Street in Mowrystown Wednesday, and residents should expect to see an increase in law enforcement personnel and vehicles in the village.
The exercise, scheduled for July 22, 2026, will involve members of the sheriff’s office SRT along with officers from the Greenfield Police Department, the sheriff’s office said in a public notice posted to Facebook.
Signs will be posted in the area marking the training site, and the sheriff’s office said the exercise will not affect traffic on North High Street. Officials said the drill poses no risk to the public.
“All participants are trained law enforcement officers, and all equipment is non-lethal,” the sheriff’s office said, adding that residents are encouraged to go about their normal activities during the exercise.
Community members can expect to see officers in both uniforms and tactical gear, along with additional patrol vehicles in the area, according to the notice. The sheriff’s office said the training is intended to keep officers prepared to better serve and protect the community, and it apologized for any inconvenience the added police presence may cause.
