PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — The city of Portsmouth is auctioning off more than 40 impounded and salvage vehicles Saturday, offering bargain hunters a shot at everything from work trucks to an ATV.
The public auction begins at 10 a.m. at the Portsmouth Public Service Department, 55 Mary Ann St., according to a Facebook post from the Portsmouth Police Department. Allen’s Auctions Inc. of Minford is running the sale, listed as an “absolute” auction with no minimum bid or reserve price on any vehicle.
The lineup includes 43 vehicles ranging from 1990 to 2015 model years — Fords, Chevrolets, Dodges, Chryslers, Hondas, Mazdas and Acuras among them — along with a Honda ATV, according to the auctioneer’s listing. Under Ohio law, the impounded vehicles will be sold with unclaimed affidavit salvage titles.
Buyers can inspect the vehicles starting at 9 a.m., one hour before bidding opens. The auction accepts cash or a good check with positive identification, and all vehicles will sell as-is, with sales final.
The city has held similar public auctions of impounded and surplus vehicles at the Mary Ann Street lot in the past, including one in May with Allen’s Auctions.
