WAVERLY, Ohio — Pebble Township Fire Department will hold its annual fall open house Saturday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the station, 330 Carl Penn Road, offering a meal, auctions and a hog raffle to support the all-volunteer department.
The department will serve soup beans and cornbread on a donation-only basis, along with a silent auction, a Chinese auction and a raffle drawing for a hog, the department said in a Facebook post announcing the event. A flyer promoting the open house bills it as a day of “food, fun, family and community.”
Pebble Township Fire Department is an all-volunteer department that operates a single station serving the unincorporated township’s roughly 2,500 residents across about 37 square miles in northern Pike County, according to a national fire service community assessment. The township, bordered by six other Pike County townships and two in Ross County, has no incorporated villages or cities within its borders and is the only Pebble Township in Ohio.
