RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 20-year-old Lancaster man died Saturday afternoon when the car he was driving left the roadway and struck an embankment and a tree in Vinton County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Elijah Brandenburger was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry northeast on Kelly Road near Murphy Remy Road at about 3:30 p.m. when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and a tree, and overturned, the patrol said.

Brandenburger was pronounced dead at the scene by Vinton County EMS personnel, according to the patrol.

The patrol’s Jackson Post was assisted at the scene by Vinton County EMS, McArthur Fire Department, the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office, Sprouse Towing and Garrett Cardaras Funeral Home, the patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation.
