ASHVILLE, Ohio — Firefighters were battling a fully involved structure fire in Ashville on Thursday, with the Scioto Township Fire Department responding to provide mutual aid.
No injuries had been reported as of Thursday morning, the department said in a Facebook post.
Scioto Township Fire Department is based in southern Pickaway County and provides primary fire protection to roughly 11,000 residents in Scioto Township and the villages of Commercial Point and Orient, according to the township. The department, staffed by 15 full-time firefighters and 21 part-time personnel under a fire chief and assistant chief, also offers advanced life support emergency medical services, trench and cave-in rescue, and hazardous materials response.
The department maintains mutual aid agreements with Harrison, Hamilton, Jackson and Pleasant township fire departments, as well as the Tri-County Joint Fire District/Sterling Joint Ambulance District, dispatching crews to help when a fire overwhelms a neighboring department’s resources, as was the case Thursday in Ashville.
Ashville, a village of roughly 4,600 residents in Pickaway County, sits about 17 miles south of Columbus.
