CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Circleville Police Department is handing out free Child ID wristbands ahead of this week’s Circleville Pumpkin Show, a safety measure intended to help officers quickly reunite lost children with their parents or guardians during the festival’s crowded downtown stretch.
The wristbands are available around the clock at the police department, 151 E. Franklin St., according to a post from the department. Officers patrolling downtown during the show will also carry extra wristbands for families who need one on the spot.
The wristbands were donated by The Savings Bank, a Circleville-based community bank headquartered on North Court Street that has operated in Pickaway County since 1912, the department said.
This year marks the 119th Circleville Pumpkin Show, one of Ohio’s largest fall festivals. The celebration opens Tuesday with an opening ceremony and parade at Pumpkin Show Park before the main event runs Wednesday through Saturday, Oct. 21-24, in downtown Circleville. Admission is free, and the festival regularly draws large crowds to the compact downtown area around Court and Main streets.
“This is just one more way we hope to make the Pumpkin Show safer and more enjoyable for you and your family,” the police department said in its post.
