LEESBURG, Ohio — Village officials issued a boil-water advisory Wednesday for homes and businesses along West Main Street and the streets that connect to it, continuing out to High Rock Road.

The advisory covers the center of town outward along West Main Street and the adjoining side streets to High Rock Road, village Administrator Sam Spargur said in a notice posted to the village’s Facebook page. The advisory will remain in effect until further notice, Spargur said, and residents with questions can reach him at 937-673-1025.

Boil-water advisories are typically issued when a water system loses pressure or suffers a line break, raising the possibility that contaminants could enter the water supply. Utilities generally advise residents under such an advisory to boil tap water before drinking it, cooking with it or using it to brush their teeth until the advisory is lifted.

Leesburg, a Highland County village of about 1,273 residents as of the 2020 census, was platted in 1802 and named after Leesburg, Virginia.
