COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio is in critical need of blood donations, according to state officials. The State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services released a statement urging the public to give.
Ohio Division of EMS Executive Director Rob Wagoner expressed his concern regarding the shortage. Wagoner said, “There is great concern that some patients may not be able to receive life-saving infusions of blood and blood products despite current efforts to conserve these resources.”
During the June 16 state board meeting, officials raised concerns about the state’s current supply. With the enduring COVID-19 pandemic, and fewer donations, the state’s reserves are running dangerously low.
If you are interested in donating blood, you can contact any blood collection site in your area to learn more about donating.
