ROSS COUNTY, Ohio— A toddler is in the hospital today after suffering several serious injuries, and law enforcement wants to know what happened.
According to initial reports, investigators in Ross County are looking into exactly what happened to the child, who was rushed to the hospital by Children’s Services.
The Ross County Sheriff’s Office says the young child was currently residing in a foster home in Ross County.
On Wednesday, reports read, the child was taken to the child Visitation Center to visit with the mother.
Deputies say the child, originally from Fayette County, had been at a foster home in the 5000 block of Lower Twin Road in South Salem.
Upon arrival to the visitation center, workers and the mother noticed bruising on the 2-year-old’s face and neck. Scratches were also seen on the toddler’s face, chin, and ears.
An investigation was launched, officials say, into what happened.
Ross County Children’s Services removed the child from the foster home and took them to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus for evaluation. It was there, deputies say, it was found that the 2-year-old had suffered two broken arms and a fractured skull.
No arrests have been made at this time and the case remains under investigation. No further details were immediately released.
