COLUMBUS, Ohio — Join fellow history enthusiasts at the Ohio Statehouse to celebrate Ohio’s birthday and advocate for Ohio history.
On March 2, 2023, a broad coalition of history advocates will come together to commemorate Ohio’s founding and highlight the importance of Ohio’s history. This annual Statehood Day event serves as a celebration of Ohio and its rich history, as well as an opportunity to advocate for historic preservation and access to Ohio’s history.
At the Ohio Statehouse, attendees will enjoy a variety of activities, including:
- A formal presentation at 10:00 AM with updates from the America 250-Ohio commission and the Ohio History Leadership Awards Ceremony.
- Celebrating with the Ohio History Fund Grant winners in the Atrium
- Viewing the documentary “Marching On: The Fight for School Integration in Hillsboro, Ohio” in the Governor Thomas Worthington Room.
- Exploring exhibits featuring historical collections from across the state.
- Visiting partner organizations’ tables to learn about the great work they are doing throughout the state.
- Taking a tour of the architectural gem of the Ohio Statehouse.
- Meeting with legislators to advocate for Ohio history.
