LAURELVILLE, Ohio — A large power outage in the Laurelville area earlier this morning was caused by a bird, officials with the South Central Power Company said. The incident left over 4,000 members without power in portions of Ross, Pickaway, and Hocking counties.
The power company reported that the bird had flown into equipment at their Laurelville substation, triggering the outage. Crews were immediately dispatched to the scene to assess the damage and restore power to the affected areas.
After working to repair the damage caused by the bird, power was gradually restored to the affected areas. Customers in the region have since regained power, and the South Central Power Company has expressed its appreciation for their patience during the outage.
