WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Postal Service (USPS) has released new delivery performance metrics for the 11th week of the second quarter of the fiscal year 2023. According to the report, there has been consistent or improved delivery performance across all mail categories. The average time for the Postal Service to deliver a mailpiece or package across the nation remained at just 2.5 days.
The scores for the FY23 second-quarter service performance covering January 1 through March 17 are as follows: 91.2% of First-Class Mail delivered on time, 94.6% of Marketing Mail delivered on time, and 87.0% of Periodicals delivered on time, all against the USPS service standard. Compared to the fiscal first quarter, Marketing Mail delivery performance improved by 0.7 percentage points, while Periodicals delivery performance increased by 2.3 percentage points.
The Postal Service has been working to improve service delivery for the American public and business customers, with a focus on modernizing the postal network across the nation. Delivering for America, the Postal Service’s 10-year plan for achieving financial sustainability and service excellence aims to meet or exceed 95 percent on-time service performance for all mail and shipping products once all elements of the plan are implemented.
The Postal Service has reported that 96% of the nation’s population currently receives their mail in less than three days. USPS is also working to address service-related issues in the remaining limited areas.
