CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ice skating, crowded restaurants, horse-drawn carriages with couples and families, Christmas trees, twinkling lights, sounds of carols and fogged-up trolley windows bring the festive feelings out for downtown visitors to Chillicothe. With the holiday season in full swing, these events aren’t to be missed.
The Mighty Children’s Museum and the Herrnstein Auto Group is hosting an ice-skating rink, located at the Pumphouse Center for the Arts. Free skating every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starting this weekend until the end of the year.
The Adena Mansion and Gardens has a Fall Scrapbooking Crop taking place now on weekends for guests.
- Chillicothe Night Market at The Postmark on Paint Street will light up with local artisans, live music and cocktails. Tickets available at the door. Saturday, November 4 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Only held twice a year.
- Ross County Shrine Club’s 43rd annual Spaghetti Dinner, held at 500 Bellview from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 9.
- Annual Altrusa Bazaar at Unioto Schools has 70 vendors lined up for the Saturday, November 11th event being held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- “All In” concert by the locally recognized music group, The Wegions will take place at the “Rock for Tots,” charity event at the Bishop Flaget gymnasium on Saturday, November 11th. Proceeds benefit Veterans in Transition and Rock for Tots. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and music begins at 7:00 p.m.
On Wednesday November 15, Triple Crown Family Fun Center opens its doors again for the 2023 Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce Business Expo from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be over 60 businesses represented, 50+ door prizes, food and drink available. Sponsors are Triple Crown Family Fun Center and G&J Pepsi.
Annual Holiday Open House in historic downtown Chillicothe, will be Friday, November 17 through Sunday, November 19. Tree lighting ceremony, shopping and restaurant specials will please a festive crowd. SANTA will be meeting visitors at the new location of the SANTA HOUSE, in front of the Armory in Yoctangee park immediately following the tree lighting ceremony.
- Meet the Grinch at High Five cakes from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 17.
On Saturday, December 2 guests at the New System Bakery will be greeted by The Grinch from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Chillicothe Christmas Church Walk will be held on Saturday, December 2. This outdoor walking event takes guests from First Wesleyan Church to Calvary Lutheran, St. Paul Episcopal, and Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Handbell performances, bluegrass music and choir performances will be a highlight as well as the historic architecture of the churches.
The Majestic Theater hosts the musical group Phil Dirt and the Dozers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 2.
Rudolph Run 5K and Glow Walk on Wednesday, December 6th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. will begin at the Elks Lodge #52 parking lot. A glow nose and necklace will be given to each registrant. Proceeds benefit Light the Downtown.
The Chillicothe Civic Theater presents The Sound of Music musical with local actors and actresses at the Majestic Theater on December 7th-9th at 7 p.m. and 10th at 3 p.m.
Chillicothe Christmas Tour of Homes on Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10 will take place. Homes on the tour are located at 133 Church St., 280 Church St., 302 Fairway, 324 Fairway, 330 Fairway, 330 Piatt, 701 Allen, 501 Worthington, and 250 Annis.
John Berry’s 27th Annual Christmas Tour takes place at the Majestic Theater on Wednesday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Holiday Pops Spectacular Columbus Symphony Orchestra returns to Ohio University Chillicothe’s Shoemaker Center on Sunday, December 17th at 5:00 p.m.
