COLUMBUS, Ohio — Antoine Dwayne Riley, 37, of Columbus, has been found guilty by a federal jury for the illegal possession of firearms, a violation stemming from a prior conviction in the Southern District of Ohio.
In 2009, Riley was convicted of conspiracy to distribute over five grams of cocaine and possessing a firearm in connection with drug trafficking, rendering him ineligible to possess firearms or ammunition.
According to court documents and trial testimony, on Nov. 13, 2022, officers from the Columbus Division of Police responded to a domestic violence call on East 13th Avenue. Riley was accused of assaulting a victim and was suspected of having a handgun.
After hours of resistance, Riley eventually complied with officers’ requests to open his door. Upon taking him into custody, officers discovered two rifles—a 12-gauge shotgun and a multi-caliber rifle—in Riley’s bedroom.
Indicted in June 2023, Riley faces a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years. The Court will determine the sentencing, considering advisory guidelines and other statutory factors. Congress sets the maximum statutory sentence for this offense.
