SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — The Scioto County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is calling on community members to become volunteer weather spotters and help keep their neighbors safe.
The EMA will be hosting a free SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training session on Monday, March 18th, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Valley Township Fire Department (583 Robert Lucas Road, Lucasville). The training will be conducted by a qualified National Weather Service meteorologist and will cover topics such as:
- Recognizing different types of severe weather, such as tornadoes,hailstorms, and high winds
- Reporting severe weather observations to the National Weather Service
- Staying safe during severe weather events
