CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A student allegedly pulled a pocket knife on another during the Unioto High School basketball game on Tuesday, February 13th.
According to an investigative report, deputies were dispatched to the school following reports of the incident. Upon arrival, they spoke with the juvenile, a 9-year-old girl, and her mother.
The girl allegedly stated that she pulled out the knife after being bullied by other children, including being called names and having soap thrown at her. She claimed she felt threatened and did not intend to harm anyone. The knife was reportedly her father’s and she had found it a week prior.
Another child involved in the incident, reportedly stated that the girl grabbed his arm and threatened him with the knife. His mother, deputies said, declined to press charges but wanted the school to handle the situation internally.
A third child, also provided a written statement alleging the girl threatened to “put her in the ground” with the knife. However, contact with her grandmother, could not be made before she left the school event.
Authorities said they will follow-up with all the parties involved.
