COLUMBUS, Ohio — As part of the 6th Biennial Ohio Civil Rights Transportation Symposium, three scholarships worth $1,500 each are up for grabs for college students pursuing degrees in Construction or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) fields. The initiative aims to diversify the engineering and transportation industry by supporting students in these specialized disciplines.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a resident of Ohio
- Enrolled as a full-time or part-time undergraduate in an accredited degree-granting institution
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Pursuing a construction or STEM-related degree or certificate
- Have authorization to work in the U.S., a student authorization visa, or DACA authorization status
Required Documents:
- Completed and signed Scholarship Application
- Verification statement from a Bursar/Ombudsman staff person confirming current enrollment
- Transcript indicating current GPA
- Resume highlighting work experience, clubs, and activities related to Construction or STEM
- 800-word typed essay discussing the potential outcomes of recent Supreme Court decisions and bills aimed at weakening Diversity & Inclusion programs in colleges/universities

Winners will be notified prior to the 6th Biennial Civil Rights Transportation Symposium scheduled for April 9 – 10, 2024. Recipients must agree to provide a photo and short video clip for airing during the event.
