COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio is on the brink of launching its recreational marijuana program as the state’s joint committee has recently approved dual licensure rules. This pivotal move paves the way for sales to potentially commence as early as next month.
The window for existing medical dispensaries to apply for dual licenses, which would authorize them to sell cannabis products to adults for non-medical use, is slated to open between May 27 and June 7. Following approval, these facilities will be permitted to initiate sales immediately.
Dispensaries currently operating within the medical sector have indicated their readiness to commence sales from day one. Meanwhile, the Division of Cannabis Control is expected to present additional regulations to the joint committee for consideration in the near future, signaling ongoing developments in the state’s cannabis legislation.
