CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — An unexpected influx of dogs with parvo has led to the closure the Ross County Humane Society on June 27 and 28. The shelter said they are taking measures to ensure the safety and health of its animals and staff.
A statement posted to their social media account said, “All dogs and puppies exposed to parvo will be transferred to a partner rescue facility for monitoring and treatment if necessary.”
The shelter has paused all fostering inquiries to protect both the foster pets and the shelter animals. They apologize for any inconvenience and ask for the public’s understanding.
The shelter encourages pet owners to vaccinate their pets according to veterinary recommendations to prevent the spread of diseases like parvo.
