COLUMBUS, Ohio — New details have been released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol regarding a multi-county pursuit that took place earlier today, July 2. The chase began when the Delaware County Dispatch Center issued a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert for a reported stolen vehicle—a white 2024 Toyota RAV4—last seen traveling on state Route 95 near mile post 20 in Richland County. This vehicle had been involved in multiple pursuits with various agencies prior.
Shortly thereafter, a sergeant from the Mt. Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol spotted the Toyota heading south on state Route 95 in Knox County. When the sergeant attempted a traffic stop as the vehicle entered Fredricktown, the driver failed to stop, initiating a pursuit.
The chase continued towards Mt. Vernon but was terminated due to reckless driving and the risk to the public.
An Aviation Unit in the vicinity responded, locating the Toyota and tracking it on Interstate 71 through Morrow, Delaware, and Franklin counties. Ground units trailed the vehicle without lights or sirens activated.
The Toyota continued south on Interstate 71 before exiting onto Interstate 270 westbound, then south onto state Route 315. Troopers attempted to deploy stop sticks near the Ackerman Road exit but were unsuccessful. The Toyota then headed westbound on Interstate 670 before returning to Interstate 71 southbound.
The pursuit continued into Greene County, where troopers still followed at a distance. The Toyota swerved to avoid stop sticks deployed by a trooper, veered onto the left shoulder, and lost control. It then collided with the rear of a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Albert Seeney, 56, of Waldorf, Md., before coming to a stop off the roadway.
The driver, identified as Tevin Marion, 29, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and his passenger, Darius Thompson, 38, also of Ft. Lauderdale, were apprehended without further incident.
Marion was taken to the Clinton County Jail and charged with Failure to Comply with the Order or Signal of a Police Officer, a third-degree felony under O.R.C. 2921.331. He was also charged with driving without an operator’s license, not wearing a safety belt, and failure to control, all misdemeanors. Additionally, Marion had an active felony warrant.
Marion faces further charges in Knox County for Failure to Comply with the Order or Signal of a Police Officer, also a third-degree felony, and additional charges related to incidents involving other agencies.
