Congressman Steve Stivers was promoted to Major General this week.

Stivers, who represents Ohio’s 15th Congressional District, which covers Pickaway, Fayette, and Ross counties, serves in the Ohio Army National Guard.

Previously a Brigadier General, Stivers has served more than 30 years in the Guard.

“This promotion isn’t about me.  It’s about the hundreds of Soldiers, NCOs and Officers both commissioned and warrant who I’ve worked with for more than 30 years to keep our country safe. They helped me accomplish the missions that we were assigned.  It’s an honor and I will work hard to give our Soldiers the leadership, direction and support that they deserve.,” Stivers told the Guardian on Saturday.

Stivers was endorsed by the Guardian in November for his re-election bid, where he won in a landslide.

Derek Myers is the editor-in-chief of the Guardian.
