A child was shot and killed early this morning in Nelsonville.
The police chief there said it happened just after midnight on Walnut Street. When officers arrived, they found the child lifeless and started doing CPR and life saving measures.
The child — whose age has not been released — was pronounced dead at the local hospital.
While the child’s body has been sent to Dayton for an autopsy, the police department conducted multiple search warrants on the home. Police did not immediately release how the child was killed, but said that they continue to investigate the events leading up to the shooting.
No names have been released.
