ORIGINAL STORY:
An active search and rescue is underway just outside Chillicothe at this hour after a missing kayaker did not return after an afternoon trek.
The active search is near the bridge of route 772 and Cooks Hill Road.
The 35-year-old woman has been missing since approximately 2:30 p.m., according to dispatchers with the Sheriff’s office, and was last seen in a red kayak. The Gaurdian is not releasing her name at this time pending notification of all family members.
The search, which resulted in the county-wide Search and Rescue team being activated, involves multiple county agencies and the Sheriff’s office.
The woman was with a group of about 5 others and did not return when the others returned back to the area of their vehicles.
Umm don’t they usually stick together or at least within eyesight of each other? Sounds kind of weird.
