One woman was taken to the hospital and three others — including a toddler — were unharmed Monday night in a crash being described as “a miracle.”
The two separate accidents occurred in Pike County around 9:30 p.m. Monday night on Denver Road near Clines Chapel Road.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene, a mother, father, and their young daughter were driving a black Ford Escape on Denver Road when, the family reports, they heard a “cracking” sound. That’s when, the family reports, a large tree fell from a mountainside and landed atop their SUV.
No injuries were reported by the family of three, however, a second crash happened seconds later.
A woman driving a white Dodge Grand Caravan was driving in the opposite direction, but did not see the tree around a curve and struck it.
The woman’s van was smashed, but she continued to drive right under the tree. She reported severe back pain and was taken to the local hospital.
The family on scene called the crash “a miracle.”
The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The Pike County Sheriff’s office assisted, along with Waverly Fire and Huntington Township Fire.
