A cat and other household pets were rescued from a house fire in Chillicothe on Thursday.
The call came in around 2 p.m. at 94 High Street. Once on scene, firefighters saw smoke billowing out of the front door. Inside, smoke was smoldering on the first and second floors.
The people who live at the home made it out safely, but firefighters had to rescue at least one cat and other household pets.
It was not immediately released how the fire started. High Street was closed between Water and Main as crews assessed the situation.
Red Cross arrived at the scene to assist the family.
