A dog was brought back to life after initially believed to have been dead in a serious commercial fire all thanks to a special mask.
According to Washington Court House Fire Chief Tim Downing, a small bully-breed mixed dog was inside Hixon Towing when a severe fire broke out on Friday afternoon. Firefighters rushed to the area and tried to get the fire under control. During their initial check of the building, they found a lifeless dog inside, believed to have died from smoke inhalation.
Firefighters scooped the dog up, wrapped it inside a blanket, and took it outside where a special oxygen mask was placed on it’s nose in an attempt to save it; a mask specifically designed for animals. Downing said the mask was obtained by the city through a grant and that Fayette County EMS was critical in helping resuscitate the dog.
Initially believed to have been lost in the fire, the four-legged loved one was saved thanks to the special work of local first responders. Downing said the dog was taken by the local humane society overnight for observation, but was expected to be okay.
OUTSTANDING JOB……WELL DONE
