A piece of construction equipment caught fire on I-71 near the 84 mile-marker causing scares for motorists in Madison County Monday afternoon.
The equipment had drivers plowing through black smoke in the northbound lanes before the Tri-County Fire Department doused the machine with water. Construction workers were seen helping firefighters up the side of a nearby hill and moving their hoses with them.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was not released.
