WBNS-10TV’s Chief Meteorologist is out of jail this afternoon after posting a $50,000 bail.
Mike Davis plead not guilty Friday morning at his arraignment on a sole-charge of pandering child pornography. The judge set the bail with conditions that Davis had to handover his passport, stay off the internet, and could not be around children alone. When he was released from jail, Davis was flanked with television cameras and reporters, who followed him four city blocks as he walked to a nearby condo complex in downtown in his pajamas.
Davis’ lawyer, Terry Sherman, said that more charges are expected, but that it could take weeks; he also said that there was no “production” of child pornography, and that counseling has already been arranged for the longtime face of central Ohio weather.
Police raided Davis’ Upper Arlington home on Thursday morning, as well as the WBNS studios, in search of electronics like computers, cell phones, and thumb drives, all of which were seized at both locations. The man who has been forecasting the weather for the CBS affiliate for more than 30 years was taken into custody without incident in his pajamas, said authorities.
WBNS has released a statement saying that they were aware of the incident and would be reporting on the story, but did not go into details on the status of Davis’ employment with the station.
