Deputies in Pickaway County are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead in a driveway; another man has been arrested in connection to the death.
Reports say that on Christmas day, at around 4 p.m., a 9-1-1 call came in that a man was laying in a driveway at 17166 Winchester Road near Ashville.
When deputies got there, they found Douglas Buechler, 33, of Columbus dead. The bizarre thing, deputies say, is that Buechler does not live at the home and the people who do live there had left and returned after a very short time away; that’s when they found the man in their yard.
Sheriff Robert B. Radcliff says that Buechler “had multiple injuries” and the death is considered suspicious. Also at the scene, deputies found two dogs with tags that belonged to Buechler.
Buechler’s car was entered into a database for law enforcement to be on the lookout. Later that day, officers with Ashville Police spotted the car sitting on Bortz Street with no one around.
Officers from APD setup surveillance on the car and a few hours later, the Sheriff says Bobby Lee Bear White got into the car and drove away. Police pulled him over and he was taken to jail charged with drugs that were found in the car; the car was impounded.
Radcliff says White is a person of interest in the death investigation.
