Police in Chillicothe are investigating a cashier at the local WalMart for stealing more than $2,000.
Loss prevention officers with the store contacted the local police on Wednesday after investigating register-shortages, according to the police department. After investigating, it was found on security video that a woman-clerk at the store had taken two gift cards and loaded money onto them without paying for the cards.
While looking through additional loss prevention logs and security video, police said the woman was seen loading money onto another two gift cards for $182, while only paying $100 — shorting the store $82.
While looking into that incident, more video showed the cashier directly taking money from the till and placing it into her pocket.
The woman was interviewed by store management and according to the store, the employee admitted to stealing more than $2,000 since she started working at the super center in May 2019.
Charges have not been filed at this time.
