A family in Adelphi received a scare Wednesday afternoon after their neighbor broke into their home.
Shortly after 3 p.m., they called 9-1-1 to say that their neighbor was trying to break inside their house while they were home.
Deputies raced to the area, but before they could arrive, the people who called for help said Michael Friend gained entry, but that they tackled him and were holding him down until help arrived.
An ambulance was called to the scene as a precaution, while Friend was arrested.
There is no word on why Friend was breaking in. He has been booked into the jail on a third degree felony charge of burglary.
