The Ross County Commission will meet Monday at 2:45 p.m. to discuss becoming a second amendment “sanctuary county.”
The movement is being pushed by self-described gun activists who allege that the government is out to take their guns. Ross County is one of the few counties who are being met with organized opposition to the idea of a resolution.
Counties such as Pike and Scioto counties in our area have passed resolutions grandstanding against, what they call, a suppression of the second amendment, “the right to bear arms.” The resolution does not change the law, and is merely a public stance of opinion by three people: the county commission.
The Jackson County Sheriff said while he supports the second amendment, he also has a job to do and an oath to uphold laws, and anyone violating state or federal laws in his county will be charged.
