Scioto Valley Guardian is teaming up with SpotCrime to bring real-time crime tracking to the Scioto Valley.
SpotCrime is a crime data aggregator. They track crime incidents from your neighborhood and plot them on Google Maps, which allow you to see exactly what is happening in your neighborhood.
“We analyze crime trends in your neighborhood and allow you to search for crime near any address,” said founder of SpotCrime, Colin Drane. “Our goal is to provide the most accurate, timely geocoded crime information to the public.”
From thefts and burglaries to assaults and shootings, Guardian viewers and readers can stay up to date by signing up for free SpotCrime emails and text alerts when new crimes arise in their area.

“We’re thrilled to launch into this partnership with a company that helps keep families safer,” said the Guardian’s editor-in-chief Derek Myers. “From the start of the Scioto River to the First Capital hills, you’re going to be able to know exactly what’s happening to stay safer.”
Crimes for rural areas in Ross, Pike, Pickaway, and Fayette counties are being tracked, including all the villages for each, according to SpotCrime. In addition, cities such as Chillicothe, Circleville, Washington Court House, and Waverly are also being plotted.
The maps are available on the Guardian’s website and smartphone applications. While there, viewers can sign-up with their emails to get alerts into their inbox.
“Type in your city or zip code now to check the crime in your neighborhood!” Myers said.”
