An ammonia leak in Pickaway County caused a small scare Thursday night.

It happened along route 56 near route 104 at Nutrien Ag Solutions at around 9 p.m. The company provides ammonia to farmers for planting season.

Officials at the scene said a valve emptied after the area’s temperature change, causing one of the mobile tanks to release pressure.

A minor smell of ammonia was in the area until workers and firefighters fixed the leakage.
