A man was severely burned in a car fire in Ross County and was on the run with a gun.

It happened at a trailer park along Stone Road near the county airport. The call came in at around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The man reportedly caught the car on fire and was sending photos of his face and eyes being burned to someone via text message. They called 9-1-1 and deputies responded.

Black smoke was seen billowing into the sky above the trailer court as the car was fully engulfed in flames.

Neighbors say the man made statements he was going to use the gun. Witnesses said they heard four gunshots before deputies arrived.

The man was believed to be hiding in the woods behind the trailer park.

People in the trailer park were ordered back inside their homes while troopers and deputies scoured the area. A perimeter was established along route 104 and route 207.

The Department of Public Safety was bringing in a Highway Patrol helicopter when the man was found at around 4:15 p.m.

He was arrested and checked out by medics.

The state Fire Marshal was called to the scene.

The gun was not found.
