A former upstate New York politician who fled before a jail sentencing nearly 25 years ago was found by police limping on the side a road in Pike County.
Fugitive William Jones, once the supervisor for the town of Mentz, New York, had been living in Ohio under a fake name for years, authorities told Syracuse.com.
The 71-year-old was out on $20,000 bail in 1997 when he ran away before he could be sentenced after being convicted of illegally selling eight handguns, the report said.
He’s being held in Butler County and faces extradition back to New York.
