Law enforcement in Scioto County are looking for a man who was involved in a shootout with police after he fled from the hospital.
Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said that on Sunday, his office responded to a shooting in Franklin Furnace where a man led troopers on a chase from Kentucky. Once on scene, deputies and detectives were advised that a man was driving a stolen car.
The investigation revealed that a deputy from the Greenup County Sheriff’s Office, along with a Greenup Police officer, pursued the stolen vehicle from Kentucky into Ohio. Once the pursuit ended in a driveway on Arch Lane shots were fired by both Kentucky officers.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations, out of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, was contacted to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
The suspect, who has been identified as Tracy L. Rickett, 48, was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center by EMS; he was flown to Grant Medical Center as precaution. On Monday, the Sheriff said Rickett fled the hospital and is now wanted.
If you know his whereabouts, you’re urged to call police.
