The state park that was burning out-of-control for two days is now under control.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources confirmed to the Guardian on Friday that the fire in Tar Hollow State Park has burned a total of 41 acres since Wednesday night.
Multiple fire departments from several counties battled the inferno before ODNR sent them home due to dangerous conditions. On Thursday, bulldozers were brought in to create a trench to keep the fire from spreading. While the fire continues to burn Friday afternoon, it became contained. ODNR says it is likely not to spread because of the trenches there were dug around the hill.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
