WILLIAM EDGAR “BILL” HOLLEY, age 87, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 9:40 a.m. at his home.
He was born on October 18, 1933 in Lawrence County, Ohio to Lloyd Edgar and Annie Francis Holley. Bill proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #25 and had served as Commander. Bill began his career in the bakery industry at Pennington Bakery in Washington CH; he then took a job with Colonial Stores Bakery in Virginia as General Manger. Bill retired from Fleishmann’s Yeast. He and his wife, Mary also owned and operated several rental properties in the local area. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed showing his Tennessee Walking Horses while living in Virginia and raising his Standardbred Horses after moving back to town, gardening, collecting guns, and being with his family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Verna, Lilly, Gladys, Kenneth, and Raymond.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Marie (Bryan) Holley, whom he married on January 12, 1951; children, Bryan Keith Holley, and Terrie Sue Springer and her fiancé, Russell Glore; and grandson, Scott William (Tess) Springer. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear and special friends.
The memorial service will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
